Laser cutting of stainless steel, aluminium and sheet metal

Precise laser-cut parts for one-offs, small batches and demanding special solutions – made to drawing, CAD data or sample.

Laser cutting sheet metal – precise and flexible

Laser cutting separates the sheet without contact along a programmed profile – simple blanks as readily as complex geometries with high repeat accuracy. Because no profile-specific tooling is required, the process suits prototypes, one-offs and small batches particularly well, and changes can be fed into the production data comparatively easily. Typical parts we make:

  • Enclosures and panelling
  • Front and mounting plates
  • Flanges and connection plates
  • Brackets and consoles
  • Machinery and plant components
  • Sheets with complex cut-outs and hole patterns
  • Components for welded structures
  • Customer-specific special parts

Laser cutting stainless steel

When laser cutting stainless steel, the profile is not the only thing that matters: grade, surface and what happens to the part later all shape how it should be made. That applies above all to parts that will then be bent, welded or given a defined surface – here the laser blank is the first step in a continuous process. We cut stainless steel for machinery and plant, enclosures, vessels, technical components and special structures – including applications with heightened demands on material and processing.

Laser cutting aluminium

Aluminium combines low weight with good structural properties – but behaves differently from stainless steel both in cutting and in subsequent operations. We therefore match the laser blank, the design and the following steps to one another. Typical applications range from enclosures and covers through machine components to lightweight structures for technically demanding uses.

Laser cutting for small batches

With small quantities in particular, laser cutting plays to its flexibility: complex geometries are produced without part-specific tooling and can be adapted quickly when the design changes. That suits companies which do not need thousands of identical parts but 5, 20, 50 or 200 high-quality components – and we reproduce recurring small batches from the production data already on file.

Custom work to drawing, CAD data or sample

Not every project starts with a finished data set. We work from technical drawings and suitable CAD data – but for custom work an existing part, a sample or simply a design brief can be the starting point. In doing so we look at, among other things:

Material and sheet thickness

Which material meets the technical requirements and suits the planned subsequent operations?

Geometry and tolerances

Which accuracies are critical to function, and which design details affect production?

Holes and cut-outs

What can be produced directly with the laser – and where does subsequent machining make sense?

Bending and bend radii

If the laser-cut part is to be formed, profile, cut-outs and bend lines have to be considered together at the cutting stage.

Welded construction

Fits, locating features and production-friendly design make later assembly considerably easier.

From the laser blank to the finished part

A key advantage lies in what follows: you do not have to coordinate a different supplier for every step. On request we take on the whole route – and match the operations to one another during production planning.

Laser cutting → bending → welding → machining → surface finishing → assembly

It is not the individual laser cut that determines the quality of the finished part, but the interplay of design, material and every operation that follows.

Laser-cut parts for demanding applications

stainlesstec is of particular interest where sheet metal work goes beyond a simple blank:

  • Demanding stainless steel structures
  • Small batches with consistent quality
  • Parts with high-quality visible surfaces
  • Complex welded assemblies
  • Components requiring additional machining
  • Custom work with particular material requirements
  • Parts for technically demanding industries

In this way we combine the economics of modern laser technology with the flexibility of a shop that finds answers to unusual requirements too.
