Welding stainless steel and aluminium

From the precise welded part to the complete assembly – for small batches, custom work and technically demanding applications.

What we offer in welding

stainlesstec welds stainless steel and aluminium for industrial applications. We make individual welded parts as well as complex welded assemblies to drawing, combining classic welding processes with automated, high-precision capability.

Our strength lies where welding demands more than a sound joint: with difficult materials and geometries, tight tolerances, controlled heat input, high-quality surfaces or particular requirements for production and documentation.

Welding stainless steel

Welded parts and structures for technically demanding applications – with an eye on material, heat input, distortion, weld design and surface quality. Particular attention goes to handling each material correctly and avoiding contamination.

Welding aluminium

High thermal conductivity, the oxide layer and alloy-dependent behaviour place particular demands on the process. We build lightweight, precise aluminium structures and match joint preparation, process and sequence to the part.

Welded assemblies

Complete welded assemblies in stainless steel and aluminium: cut, punched and bent here, welded and taken through to a ready-to-install assembly. That reduces interfaces – tolerances, fits and welding sequences are matched early.

3D laser welding

Concentrated energy input for narrow welds and a locally confined heat-affected zone. Combined with data-driven processing, even complex three-dimensional weld paths are produced repeatably – of interest for demanding parts and small batches.

TIG and MIG welding

TIG for particularly controlled, high-quality and precise joints – MIG with advantages on aluminium and longer welds. Where the application calls for it, we back purge the weld root to prevent oxidation on the reverse side.

Longitudinal seam welding

Mechanised longitudinal seam welding for longer straight welds: even and repeatable, particularly useful for recurring parts, vessels and components. Suitability depends on geometry, material thickness, dimensions and access to the weld.

Good welds begin before welding

The quality of a welded structure is not decided at the welding bay. Material, design, cutting, joint preparation, bend radii, fits and welding sequence all shape the result. On more complex structures, heat input and shrinkage can change the dimensional accuracy of the whole assembly. During production planning we therefore look at:

  • Material and thickness
  • Weld geometry and access
  • Fits and tolerances
  • Heat input and welding sequence
  • possible distortion
  • fixtures required
  • requirements for the weld root and back purging
  • visible surfaces and surface quality
  • subsequent operations

With small batches and custom work in particular, small design changes can simplify production considerably and improve repeatability.

Stainless steel and aluminium, cleanly processed

In sheet metal and welding work, stainlesstec concentrates on stainless steel and aluminium. The two material groups place different demands on preparation, process, heat input and finishing, and we allow for those differences throughout production.

With demanding stainless steel structures, for example, avoiding contamination matters a great deal. With aluminium, thermal conductivity, the oxide layer and alloy-dependent behaviour during welding have to be taken into account.

From the individual part to the finished welded assembly

A key advantage is how much we do in house: we can make the parts to be welded ourselves and then carry on processing them.

Laser cutting → punching → bending → welding → machining → surface finishing → assembly

This means you do not have to coordinate cutting, forming and welding across different suppliers. At the same time we can align every step with the intended end result from the outset.

Welding for demanding applications

Our shop is geared to projects where standard solutions are not enough – parts and assemblies for machinery and plant engineering, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, defence and other technically demanding fields.

Depending on the application, additional requirements may apply to material, processing, surfaces, cleanliness, traceability or documentation. Which of them a particular part needs is settled project by project.

One-offs, small batches and recurring assemblies

stainlesstec makes individual special structures as well as small batches and recurring welded assemblies, combining hands-on welding skill with specialised production methods. That allows us both to solve one-off problems and to produce defined parts repeatably.
