Small batches and custom work to drawing

One-offs, prototypes, pre-production runs and small batches in stainless steel and aluminium: send us your drawing or CAD data – we make the parts precisely, document them fully and deliver on time. Even when it has to be quick.

From batch size one to the recurring run

Batch size 1

One-offs & prototypes

The one part you cannot buy anywhere: made to your drawing by specialists who are at home with unusual geometries too.

Small quantities

Pre-production & small batches

From the functional sample to the pre-production run: repeatable quality through data-driven production – every part like the first.

Recurring

Series call-offs

Set up once, available any time: your programmes and parameters stay on file and we deliver just in time into your process.

Further processing

Through to the assembly

Individual parts become complete assemblies on request – welded, assembled and tested.

Small quantities call for a different approach to manufacturing.

High-volume production is optimised to make as many identical parts as possible at the lowest unit cost. With small batches the task is a different one: to develop a process that is economical from the start, tolerates changes and still delivers repeatable quality. That is why the work does not begin at the machine – drawing, CAD data, material, tolerances and quantity are considered together first.

The decisive question is not only: can we make this component? But: what is the sensible way to make it?

From your data to the finished component

01

Understanding the design

STEP, DXF and drawing data are reviewed for what they demand in production: geometry, material, wall thicknesses, bend radii, tolerances, welded joints, surfaces and later assembly.
02

Defining the route

Laser cutting, bending, welding, straightening, grinding – perhaps bought-in parts are added, or several parts become an assembly. We combine these steps into one coordinated chain.
03

Preparing on data

Customer data becomes machine programmes, work sequences and production information – a design turns into a repeatable process.
04

Applying experience

A CAD model knows nothing of welding distortion. Where material behaviour, welding sequence or surface call for experience, qualified staff and specialist welders take over.
05

Making it repeatable

If the one-off becomes a small batch, we reuse the production data we developed – changes feed into new drawing revisions and variants in a controlled way.

Small-batch manufacturing thus combines two things that seem to be opposites: flexibility and repeatability.

What we make for you

Sheet metal and formed parts

Laser-cut, punched, bent and formed components to drawing.

Welded structures

Complex individual parts and welded assemblies in stainless steel and aluminium.

Enclosures, hoods and panelling

Customer-specific machine enclosures, covers and housings with defined surfaces.

Components and process equipment

Hoppers, cones, sieve frames, filter housings, vessels and other special components.

Precision and special parts

Components with unusual geometries, particular material requirements or demanding surfaces.

Complete assemblies

On request with mechanical assembly and, depending on the project, further components and functions.

Custom work does not mean improvising.

Custom manufacturing is sometimes equated with one-off craftsmanship: an experienced worker somehow finds a way. Our view is different: individual does not mean unstructured. Even a single part is prepared from data, made on modern machines and documented against defined inspection criteria – in stainless steel in various grades and in aluminium, processed in a segregated environment.

CAD & programming · laser & CNC technology · material knowledge · specialist welders · surface expertise · quality assurance

When a component becomes special.

Custom parts rarely come about because a design looks spectacular. Often a single unusual requirement is enough: a very thin wall, a small bend radius, a large area that has to stay flat, a high-quality visible surface, an awkward weld geometry, a particular material grade, a defined magnetic behaviour, a demanding tightness requirement or an unusual documentation package. We do not assess such requirements in isolation but look at the whole production sequence.

When punching alone is not the answer

Duplex centrifuge drum

4 mm holes are made in 5 mm plate – and the stress involved changes its flatness. The task is therefore not “punch holes” but: bring the component back to the required geometry after the entire process.
1 mm material, demanding appearance

Thin-walled motor cover

Thin material meets high visual quality: heat input during welding is controlled so that nothing distorts unchecked and a high-grade surface remains possible. Precision does not come from the machine alone.

When stainlesstec is particularly worth considering

You need only a few parts.

Conventional series production would not be economical.

You have a drawing but no suitable manufacturer.

Material, geometry or welding task is unusual.

You want to bundle several production steps.

Instead of coordinating a laser shop, a welding shop and assembly separately, you get a finished assembly.

Your design is still evolving.

Prototype and first series may differ – we carry changes through in a controlled way.

You will need the same part again later.

The custom job, once developed, becomes a repeatable process.

Standard parts do not solve your problem.

The component has to fit your machine, plant or application exactly.

Quality to requirement – not to feel.

Even for small quantities the requirements have to be clear. Depending on the project these include material certificates, defined tolerances, welding specifications, surface values, tightness and pressure tests, traceability, inspection records and customer-specific documentation. For particularly demanding projects, existing qualifications such as ISO 3834, AD 2000 HP 0 or DIN 2303 come into play.

What always counts is this: what does this particular component need? Not every project calls for the same documentation – but it should be settled before production starts.
